Overview
This project was created for my third year module Gameplay Mechanics Development, this module is about the principles of designing, implementing, testing and iterating game mechanics in the context of a game engine.
For this module we were required to work in Unreal Engine 4.26.2.
For my project I started researching the Leviathan Axe Throw from God of War (2018), to do this I first found videos online and moved onto spending time in-game throwing the axe at different angles and targets after the release of the game on PC.
I was able to break down the axe into four phases: Aim, Throw, Recall and Catch.
I then worked out the rules that the axe follows: It destroys destructible objects while thrown or recalled, in my scene I used pots for this.
The axe can also be recalled while it is in the air travelling, colliding with an object or while it is lodged in a wall.
